Pros

Renumeration and bonuses are it.

Cons

I've been working in mining for over 10 years and with BHP Billiton for 3 years and apart from the money there are few positive attributes to this multinational. Talk is cheap by managers and superintendents when it comes to safety (a focus on the trivial is the norm rather than tackling real safety concerns), career development (conformance is key in this space), innovation (creativity is stifled if there are $$ attached to it's implementation). The company charter values held up as the foundations of the business but are applied when they suit by managers. The development of professionals is limited and ad hoc with training opportunities almost non existent for those based at a mine. When it comes to restructuring they would rather make working conditions as unpleasant as possible for those in the cross hairs rather than offering redundancies.

Pros

Some good co-workers and good challenges

Cons

Leadership in the Tucson office is highly political and unprofessional. Feedback is not given directly. Local leadership is more interested in Linkedin posting and image, rather than anything of substance.
