Pros

The working relationship was fantastic between peers. I truly enjoyed the job that I was asked to do in helping employees understand more of their benefits package. This position is good if you're looking for a position that will help build a skill set in sales.

Cons

Unfortunately upper management is manipulative with the way they treat employees. I was apart of the first team that started a brand new account. It was very exciting for me. Over time I saw many manipulative practices in regards to the way they treated employees and those we would review benefits with. Some of the problems I experienced were being paid far less than benefit specialist at other locations, lack of communication and direction from management. The site that I worked at eventually had a employee spying mentality. The manager had certain individuals collecting information from certain employees about their unhappiness with the situation, and then using it against them. This all culminated in my eventual firing. I was let go without being given a reason. Even though I was a top performer and exceeded in all metrics set by company. I enrolled about 80% of the people I talked to, and by my count made for the company about 40,000 per month in premiums. I had never been written up or had disciplinary problems. I will be honest that in one month I was close to be put on probation for not getting high enough enrollment number. However I used that as motivation and avoided that consequence. After I was fired I had the state where I live do an investigation as to why I was fired. Looking back I believe that it was because I was unwilling to buy into the culture. I was asked by my supervisor to be a "cheerleader". This I could not do. I also was told before I left that upper level managers didn't like my attitude. Even though this was never discussed with me or brought to my attention. This company has a strong culture that requires your total submission.

Pros

The variety of positions - the Benefit Coordinator and Benefit Communication Specialist roles vary depending on the client you are assigned to. This means that you could land a totally remote role or a hybrid role. My experience is that BCI is very flexible and will agree to whatever the client wants.

Cons

Even though the duties vary based on the client, the pay seems to be applied the same across the board. For instance, if you are placed with a client that requires higher level customer service/research - you will be paid the same as if you were working for a client that does not require complex assistance.
