Pros

Free lunch and free coffee machines are quite good, but these definitely are not elements that make a workplace great or even good.

Cons

The organization is basically corrupt. There are no moral people in key positions. Having sex with your boss is a good way to climb the corporate ladder and this is a culture in this company. There are literally dozens of people who get into good positions just because they had or are having an affair with their bosses, this is unbelievable. The environment is an every-man-for-himself environment. There is no concept of team or team work. Also for most promotions the more disgusting you are, the more chances you have. If you are someone who openly boasts about cheating on your wife in this company, you will get promoted for sure. The salary is actually not good. For the beginning it maybe is, but in less than a decade your salary hits a ceiling. This is worse than most other similar workplaces and in the long run you are better off working at some place else, instead of this company. The work place provides some health insurance policies, however most people are not happy with those policies because they are simply bad compared to the competition. In general working at Garanti Technology is extremely stressful and the stress levels are well above working at most other places. The every-man-for-himself and no team work and all competition environment makes most people paranoid and in the long run unhappy. The parent company, Garanti Bank is also an organization which does not value customers or employees and this Garanti Technology place is the same. Thus, this company is doomed in the long run.

Pros

BBVA as a whole, it has a very friendly work environment and has a unique culture unlike any other bank in midtown

Cons

That being said, any team or department that lefts unchecked can end up becoming toxic which happened at my team. There was a VP/ED who was mistreating me to a point where it was a violation of the code of conduct and was impacting my overall internship experience and my chances at a full time job because this ed/vp was allowed to mistreat based on personal biases against me. I reported it to our manager during our midterm meeting to which I phrased it as “he was in violation of the code of conduct and has been abusive”. Instead he yelled at me during the meeting because he didn’t want to lose someone who downgraded from a BB that he got for cheap. He said in the end of the meeting he would talk with the Ed/vp but a month later he pulled me into a room with HR and said today was the last day of my internship. Very unprofessional as he clearly sided with the toxic Ed/vp and booted me out because he didn’t want to lose the Ed/vp even if he was in violation of the code of conduct. Horrible experince and everyone in my team failed to uphold to professional decency. As long as everyone in that team is still there would not recommend this team at BBVA unless something structurally changes.
