Cons
Very high turnover. My experience at BAT has shown me that toxic dynamics exist within the organization, and survival often requires adapting to such it can demand an almost constant commitment, blurring the lines between work and personal life. Least but not last culture where blame-shifting was prevalent among the leadership team. It's disheartening to observe that toxic behavior often garners respect within the organization, creating a challenging work environment. During my tenure at BAT, I observed that senior legal positions typically lasted around a year, with many individuals either being terminated or taking legal action against the company. It's worth noting that several former colleagues eventually disclosed concerning practices to local authorities. It's important to note that the legal position at BAT requires 24-hour attention, with non-stop work in a highly regulated sector. Daily tasks include liaising with regulatory authorities such as DCP, facing potential bans, and managing crisis situations, especially within the factory environment. The role demands resilience and toughness to navigate the complex and ever-changing landscape of the industry. Tensions between BAT and local partners can often place the legal team in challenging situations, sometimes feeling like a "game of thrones" scenario where strategic alliances and conflicts come into play.
