Pros

I am currently an intern at BALBOA and I decided to write this after one of my classes had us do research on "review" sites such as "glassdoor" and "Yelp". i find it interesting how many people spread their opinion all over the internet, and it is even more interesting that statistically we found it to be 75% bad and 25% good. This means people only chose to "review" something when it is to complain. So i decided to add to the "positive" statistic by making an effort to post reviews of things that I like-only. I have been at BALBOA since December, and I plan on being her until the beginning of Fall semester. All I'm going to say is: I like it!! This is because this company fits my personality and also because marketing, sales, and management are all of the things that I'm studying in school. And also it's fun.. So my advice- stop reading about things & start finding out for yourself

Cons

like I said, I'm focusing on the positive from now on...

Pros

I had a lot of fun working at Balboa. I was there for about a year and I am still in close contact with most people there. I learned a lot about not just marketing but about my self. I grew personally as well as professionally. I was always looking forward to after work and see what I will be doing there. I got to know a lot of different hang out spots because of my coworkers.

Cons

If someone does not have the big picture in mind they might think they aren't growing or they are stagnant. It if a lot of work an effort to be something so if someone is not willing to put in the work, i suggest that this isn't for them.

Pros

The only pros is going out and having with your co-workers. Whenever you hit a sale I suppose.

Cons

They failed to tell me that it was an all commission job. Erin, the owner must have just recently changed it to base plus commission. In 2014 it wasn't the case. They label it as "brand marketing" but you are basically outside, hot or cold, sun or rain, going to door to door (based off of the leads) and try to make sales. That's your job. You are a salesman. No other way to put it. You go to the door, you knock and you hope someone answers. If no one answers, then you go again.Although you learn about marketing skills and such, it's no different than what I learned in school. If you have a bachelor in business, go somewhere else. Don't waste your precious time there. I guess now with the base, it's not that bad, since if you don't make a sale, you will still get money for gas or food. You can apply all of those branding and marketing to major companies without walking everywhere outside. I am still in the marketing and sales sector in my current position and guess what, I still make money and I don't have to work as a salesman. It's even more rewarding. I suggest anyone who works here go and work for an actual 500 fortune company, not a third party who contracts with one.
