Pros

On an individual level, the people are nice and very talented. Too bad they are massively overworked. Case in point: even though New Years Day was supposed to be a company holiday, many colleagues were working because the culture is one where you must be working at all times. Colleagues are regularly working at 10pm at night, so do not expect to take time off. It's a true start up in the worst ways. They finally added a minimal company 401k match.

Cons

The company will take away vacation days without notice. In previous years, we were given the week between Christmas and New Years off. Not in 2023 or beyond. Employees must "earn it" by meeting goals everyone knows are unattainable, which feels like executives dangling a carrot in front of employees to get every last ounce of work out of them when everyone knows the goal won't actually be met. Also, the company just took away their Mental Health Days. We used to have 4, now we have 0...but they added 2 PTO days. So basically we just lost 2 vacation days. And let me tell you, morale is low. Worse, the company said the few sick days you get could be used as mental health days....but then the CEO came in and said basically the opposite and that sick days are basically for if you're having surgery not "just because you don't feel like answering the phone that day." Ouch. There are also large amounts of black out dates when PTO cannot be taken for any reason. Have a family wedding during the last two weeks of any quarter? You won't be able to go, even if you've met your personal goal that quarter. You might be able to get time for a funeral. Maybe. The whole culture is you should always be working. If you're not working until 7-8pm at night, you're not working hard enough. You will be called into spur of the moment 6:45pm meetings for no reason. If you ask to take a sick day (or even a half-sick day), it's actively discouraged. Encountered that first hand.
