Pros

Glossy marketing material, nice shiny image on the outside

Cons

I worked at Avanta for 6 months - and it was eye opening to see that sharks in the recruitment industry do exist The CEO has created a nice glossy company on the outside but treats his team like children Initially you are promised the world to work here and then you are talked down to and talked about to other team members Highly unprofessional and unethical - I left because I had no faith I would even be paid out my commissions (I have heard of past employees taking the CEO to Employment Standards to get what they are owed) For new recruiters or experienced ones - I would avoid this company like the plague.

Avanta Consulting Response

Have we always gotten it right ? No. Are there people we lost on our journey and were feelings hurt along the way ? Yes. We are 100% accountable for our actions as a business and working harder at nothing more than getting culture right. Our commitment to our customers relies on our relationships as a team and there is nothing more important to us than that. The positive reviews below are from our current team – Call any one of them through our reception and ask them for yourself. 604.998.2322 Avanta will change the way external agencies operate in this crowded market and create new expectations of service delivery. We have filled 100% of the roles we have worked on this year and will continue to build our team filled with love for our clients and love for our people.

Pros

-Friendly team who enjoys having a laugh -Opportunity to learn a lot about executive search, and about how different types of businesses are run -Opportunities to get involved with client meetings and to give input to management on how searches are going and give recommendations -Fun outings to try new restaurants, group activities (snowshoeing, escape rooms), staying active (team spin classes, boxing) -Summer hours - office closes at 3pm on Fridays over the summer -Loyalty of longer serving employees rewarded -Personally have had a ton of much appreciated support and accomodation re-entering the workforce following an injury -Leadership bring in business coaches to work with some of the team to develop them

Cons

-Thermostat wars - sometimes the office gets cold -Location is cool and close to cool Eastside restaurants and Gastown, but it could be nice if it were closer to places you can run errands to (grocery, drug stores etc - all in Gastown but a bit of a walk) -The hours can be long -Data driven - this could be a con to some who don't like working with numbers
