Pros
I am being payed a lot and my team is good ( mostly due to all being my referrals ). I am not overwhelmed at work. They use to give out titles like candies so it's prestigious on your resume, not sure if they still do this though. The company is also luckily in a business that is exploding, which allow us to grow quickly even with bad management. Our competitor still seem to be eating our lunch though, but since the pie is so big and so fresh, as long as there is enough crumbs left on the table the company can still do fine ;) My pay is considerably above what is expected. Your millage will vary. Stock price almost appreciated 10x in secondary market in 2 years since last evaluation since I started here but this is an one off thing, don't expect this to happen again in the future. Did I mention I am paid very well yet? If I didn't I should. $$$
Cons
I read somewhere that someone describe this as a "who you know, not what you know" company and I must say those words describe this company to a tee. Forget what you can do, if you know the right people you can have a high paying job, secure promotions, stability at work, have crazy perks. Inversely if you offend the wrong people, you will be on the chopping block very quickly and everything you do will be "bad" regardless of what it is. There is a joke I have that everyone who actually got a job didn't interview at all, because those who did interview just open themselves to attacks ( no one is perfect after all ) but those who didn't need to interview are here purely due to referrals so no one know them well enough to say anything bad about them. You could be completely incompetent but as long as you keep your boss happy then everything is fine ( better than fine in fact ), and the main method of achieving this is to just say "yes" to everything they want and then hope they forget about it later or just find some way to do it but not really do it, you know what I mean? Word of advice to new employees: Everything at this company is about politics, try to spend as much time as you can "managing up" at this company, don't worry about being productive, that's secondary, your main objective should always be managing relationships with the right people. Also, don't worry about doing "busy work", which happens all the time, but since your goal is to keep people happy anyway doing busy work is actually an easy, low risk way to achieve it.
