Pros

interesting projects but that's about it

Cons

I've been at Aurecon over 10 years. My loyalty has been to my detriment as the aurecon MO is to keep you underpaid and unpromoted as long as possible in order to justify paying you less and working you harder. The only two times I've actually got them to pay attention to my development and salary was when I had proof that they were lying to my about the fairness of my salary and when I told them that I was looking elsewhere (though the corporate game of threatening to move just for a salary increase is not a game I'm willing to play). The branding both internally and externally is drakonian in nature and feels more like propaganda than actual communication. It implies that aurecon is wonderful and if you don't like it then there is something wrong with YOU. Development is not a thing so don't expect that. it's a tick box. It's got so bad that I've taken to only having meetings with my boss that they let me record because I would like to hold them to account. Needless to say this feels to have soured the relationship with my boss somewhat and meetings/chats are not really sought. Overtime, however and particularly recently it appears there is an unreconcilable divide between corporate strategic aspiration and on-the-ground practical capacity and goals. What support there is seems to be done on cursory level, ultimately having little benefit beyond ticking boxes, never mind providing space for tangible personal development. This neglect on progress is stagnating my career and severely compromising my future. The out of the blue nature of the current “right sizing” situation as well as the deliberately evasive stance on job levels, market related remuneration, and parity with in the unit, gives the impression that honesty and transparency are not attributes Aurecon values. The principles of “We care”, nurturing innovation and stating that “…developing our talent underpins the success of everything we do.”; enshrined in Aurecons mantra and not embodied in any practical sense. Interventions to resolve these issues have, to date proven fruitless and given the current volatile climate, I remain unconvinced of any significant growth potential personally or professionally at Aurecon. I am therefore looking to leave. This is just my honest experience and perception. Other's may vary
