Pros

Liberal opportunity to WFH. Snacks in the supply closet (shared w/ the printer). The CEO is a very kind, approachable and articulate leader.

Cons

August Jackson positions itself as an experiential agency. What they actually do is glorified event planning for client employees. In other words, they produce and decorate the events for the employees of the client. And for two of the dullest verticals in the market; Pharma and Higher Education. It's as creatively riveting as you can imagine. So applying designers beware. What you do at August Jackson is re-purpose creative assets that outside creative agencies generate, and apply them to the backroom, below-the-line visual communications for colleges and drug companies. And in Power Point and Keynote. All you need to know: Power Point, all day every day. That fun. That depressing. Career alert: Sketch and InVision for mobile apps or responsive UI/UX prototypes? Nope. Cool designs for new brand campaign directions that consumers will one day see? Nope. What you will do though is a lot of Production; file prep in In-Design for conferences and graduation stage props. And the occasional ancillary logo. But as stated, there is a snack closet.

August Jackson Response

We have a team of passionate and talented designers who find both our work and our client base rewarding. While we want every new addition to that team to be a great fit, sometimes expectations aren’t met on either side. We try to be very direct with job candidates about the nature of the work we do, and we expect candor in return regarding an individual’s qualifications for the position. We’re sorry it didn’t work out, but we wish you the best.

Pros

Well-run, well-established. The people were amazing. The salary increases were fantastic. The company vacations were experiences I will never forget. The opportunities to travel for work were some of my top career moments. The former CEO was very transparent. Hybrid working schedule, they provided everything I needed to work at home, in office, or while traveling. I loved this job.

Cons

My manager was not transparent on feedback of my performance, and I was subject to unexpected and unwarned termination, which I noticed happened across agency
