Pros

There are some good people at Atera and some fine executives who are very good at what they do.

Cons

The owner of Atera, an older woman, was unprofessional. On one hand, she could be fun and flirty. More so than one would consider appropriate. In fact, while I was there she was involved in a relationship with somebody else working for the restaurant. As you might imagine, this created awkwardness. On the other hand, she could be volatile and prone to anger. While I was there her relationship with the executive chef (who left) deteriorated a lot and the whole vibe of the place was off. I never felt at ease at work.

Pros

Very organized and clean environment. Chef Ronny Emborg is an amazing human being.

Cons

Chef de Cuisine Erin Paterson, lacks empathy to others and has definitely zero knowledge about leadership.

Pros

Work with high quality ingredients.

Cons

Ronny and his management team were some of the most toxic I’ve worked with in my career. 14 hr shifts in windowless rooms with terrible pay. Ronny would be at the gym all day then come in for family meal and service. Chefs there completely lacked empathy, patience or willingness to transmit techniques or ideas. They would expect people to pick right up on the hundreds of mise en place with no proper training. They would get angry and aggressive if you were struggling with something on your station. Literally the worst job I’ve ever had was working there . Many other places in the city to hone your craft. Avoid these toxic people.
