Pros

Some friendly staff Work on a few high-profile projects Reasonable insurance benefits (could be better, could be worse)

Cons

Salary well below industry standards, even for experienced professionals. Lots of micromanagement. Very little PTO, only 6 paid holidays a year Lack of work-life balance. Shady management practices, especially when it comes to pay transparency and employee growth.

Pros

There is a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Cons

My experience at AstreaX was overwhelmingly negative. The company is growing rapidly, but without the structure, processes, or leadership needed to support that growth. There is no real onboarding or training. New hires are expected to perform immediately with little to no guidance, which sets people up to fail. I was told I would be supported coming from a non-software background, but that was not the case. Instead, I was criticized for not knowing technical terms and processes that were never explained. There was little effort to invest in employee development or help people improve. Turnover is extremely high. It was common to see employees hired and let go within weeks. Job security feels nonexistent, and people can be fired over minor mistakes regardless of context or performance overall. Management is disorganized and consistently unavailable. Leaders are overworked, unapproachable, and do not make time to support their teams. There is also a clear divide in the culture. Long-tenured employees appear protected, while newer employees are not given the same opportunity to succeed. The work environment itself is highly unprofessional. Yelling, swearing, and openly criticizing employees in the office is a regular occurrence. Negative comments about team members are made loudly and frequently, which creates a toxic and uncomfortable atmosphere. The phrase "everyone is expendable" was thrown out a lot. Work-life balance is not respected. Employees are expected to prioritize work above all else, including holidays. Overall, the company lacks structure, accountability, and a healthy culture. Without significant changes to leadership, training, and internal processes, it is not an environment where most people can succeed.
