Pros

By working at Aston Language Centre you get the chance to live and work in China, for the duration of your internship, and pick up Mandarin.

Cons

Aston Language Centre is not very organised and the English language skills of some of the teachers and employees (who are supposed to teach English to children) are questionable.

All Chinese teaching staff have at least passed the necessary minimum qualification for English teachers in China. We have also instituted training programs for both Chinese staff and foreign staff. The student experience is has been dramatically improved in recent years, as the above review attests.

Pros

Awesome authentic Chinese experience. Teach English and learn the language. Great staff and management.

Cons

The wages were enough to get by but that's pretty much it.

Pros

I hear about companies offering internships only in name, then making said intern the designated tea and coffee provider. Aston has provided me with real work experience in a variety of tasks that has not only provided me with more responsibility than I would have expected, but allowed me to actually create value for the business. It is also a great travel opportunity for those that are torn between finding a job and exploring the world. I have been learning some mandarin (lessons provided by Aston), and also a great deal about Chinese culture that has allowed me to broaden my perspective as well as enhancing my CV.

Cons

No cons about the internship itself - ideally it would be longer
