Pros

In my 30-year career, APS has been the best place I've ever worked. They listened to the employees when big issues came to light, and made swift changes that have enormously improved the workplace culture. I have never felt so supported and encouraged as an employee as I do here. They do not have cookie cutter expectations for employees, but rather see them as whole people with individual needs and talents.

Cons

None, seriously. I'm very, very happy working here.

Pros

Group lunch on Fridays. A lot of the people are really nice and hardworking.

Cons

This organization does not seem to care about employees or employee retention at all. They are in a real need for someone who is in HR to come here. If you have an issue then there is no one you can go to, they don't take employee feedback, and they are not open to change. The hours are very strict. If you want any flexibility then this is not the place for you. As for my department, it was really a mess because of poor leadership. The director was very much absent and left the office during stressful/busy times, did not answer emails, and provided zero training to new staff. If you are looking for somewhere that is open to change, creativity and somewhere to be collaborative then I would not recommend this organization. As a Manager I had no decision making power. The Executive Director here reviews EVERYTHING and her decision is the only one that matters.
