Pros

- Co-workers are mostly good - Plenty of work available for casuals, plenty of overtime available for full-timers - Stations are well furnished and maintained - Good health and wellness spending account - Good supervisors mostly

Cons

- Orientation is way too short, especially for those new to industry - No overtime for casual employees - Chance of getting redeployed far from your station - Rural locations, long commutes are common, especially for employees based out of major cities and casuals - Compensation is slightly less than other companies - Management feels mostly removed from operations - Core-flex can be exhausting, but this issue isn't limited to Associated Ambulance - Limited opportunities for career growth outside of management

Pros

There are not many pros to list.

Cons

I was fired for being sick. I am working on getting a chronically ill diagnosis, instead of offering me support and asking if a part time or casual role would better suit my needs, I was fired. I am a black queer women, I was harassed, bullied and experienced racism from my co workers which was brought up to management and HR, nothing was done about it. Apparently I was already terminated since January but they kept me working until February? Do not work here. It is not “family oriented” as they state. There is no support from management or co workers here.

We take workplace concerns seriously and remain committed to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. While we cannot comment on individual employment matters in a public forum, we want to be clear that our organization is committed to fairness, equity, and respectful treatment for all employees. We have policies and processes in place to address accommodation needs, discrimination, and workplace concerns, and we continuously work to improve how these are applied in practice. Our standards and practices were recently validated through independent review by Accreditation Canada, where we earned Accreditation with Exemplary Standing — the highest national recognition for quality, safety, and patient-centred care. That said, Accreditation does not mean we are perfect, and we recognize that listening to feedback—especially critical feedback—is essential to growth. We remain committed to learning, accountability, and fostering a workplace where all individuals feel supported and valued.
