Pros

It's a non-profit, so working toward something that's bigger than you feels good. Developing life-changing programs and investing in research to help find a cure are worthy causes. There are some smart employees that are dedicated to the job. There are a few decent benefits, like ample vacation time and summer hours.

Cons

Senior management is so out of touch with what is needed within the organization and for their constituents. There are so many incompetent people in leadership positions it's laughable. The marketing department is a complete joke - from the senior leader on downward. There is no training, no continuing education, no smart innovative leaders to learn from. Employees are hungry for a confident, motivating leader. There are none to be found at this place. The smart, great people leave the organization to find better opportunities and the lazy wet rags stay because they can't get a job anywhere else and they know they won't get fired. It's toxic; it won't help your career, it's very cliquey and not worth your time unless you are super desperate.

Pros

Flexible, treated like an adult with your time. If you needed to work odd hours, it was fine. Remote/hybrid available.

Cons

Expectations were always changing - a new, complicated process due to the merging of departments or the exit of another employee. The long-term employees there have a mindset of getting all work done, every day, even if it means a 12 hour shift. When you are not meeting these quotas because you're not working 12 hours, it makes you the bad employee. Always new projects being dropped on you when you're struggling with the workload already. It was a hard job on your mental health.
