Pros

You reclaim your soul when you leave.

Cons

Have to be available 24/7. Short hours ( three hour shifts) when management favourites get more hours. Impossible targets. Constantly measured on put away time while stock manager does sweet FA on a daily basis. workloads increases daily, so a sales assistant is basically doing the stock managers jobs for him. Feed bull on a daily basis to keep you sweet ie "you have so much potential". Promotion will only go to management friends people that will say how high when management say jump. rotas are done late and are changed without any warning (no phone call to ask or say) so manamement expect you to check your rota every day. Contacted hours are low 6 hours a week so they avoid paying a decent amount for holiday. Customers come first and management will side with customers over their own staff, this is very belittling. No breaks or if your lucky enough to get one people clock watch, management don't take responsibility for stock missing or miss placed stock the member of staff that put the item away will get the blame. The management invent rules to suit themselves then say this is in your contract. headsets make you seem rude in front of customers that's when they do work and don't beep constantly. Certain People will never put delivery away. Management don't believe you when you phone up sick, and then quiz you on the back to work form when you return.
