Pros

Frontline driver managers are the only consistently effective part of the operation—supportive, professional, and doing their best within a flawed system. Strong camaraderie among drivers, who often compensate for structural failures higher up.

Cons

Delivery loads routinely exceed practical van capacity, causing drivers to “cube out” before all stock is even loaded. Delivery windows are frequently unrealistic—especially for city‑centre stores where traffic, parking restrictions, and limited unloading space make on‑time delivery nearly impossible. Many stores lack the physical space or layout to receive the volume of stock they’re assigned, creating avoidable delays and safety risks. Heavy or bulky items are often assigned to a single driver despite clearly requiring two‑person handling. Shift patterns are highly erratic, swinging from early‑morning starts to late‑afternoon starts week to week, making it difficult to maintain any kind of routine. Warehouse and dispatch processes feel disorganised, inconsistent, and prone to stock loss. Operational decisions appear disconnected from the realities drivers face on the ground.
