Pros

I have now left the business as a Maintenance Technician. I did enjoy some aspects of my time at Arcus, such as the courses we were enable to enroll on and my Manager/Supervisor was a great guy to work for. I left a review to this effect at the time, over 2 years ago, and someone has now responded to my review which has prompted me to add a fresh review.

Cons

I left the business for better pay and better hours. One of my suggestions on my previous review was more listening groups. However, my final memory of the business was that when some minor gripes and issues were forwarded to the listening group administrator at a later point, the response was incredible. Instead of hearing our points and suggesting reasons why certain items could or could not be addressed, our technician team was made to feel as though we had done something terrible by raising ANY issues. Senior management got involved and the overriding sentiment was, "What the hell is going on in that department", as though we had no right to raise any issues at all! That is a VERY poor response from a so called listening group. Instead of going through the motions of having listening groups, the management would do well to actually listen to the concerns of their Technicians and attempt to address them, rather then belittle them, which I would suggest encourages staff to seek employment elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to update your review. Arcus is a very different organisation now to what it was 2 years ago. Given the amount of time that has passed since you left us, its difficult to comment on your individual experience however, our staff are at the forefront of everything we do so we have provided a number of avenues for all staff to provide feedback and ideas that are listened to. We have a weekly communication brochure that goes to all members of staff providing feedback and updates on various aspects of the business.

Arcus is a company that actually believes in its core values. Safety of it's staff is a priority, and all employees have the ability to make a difference

Cons

Arcus' growth is outpacing some of our internal policies, that need to be changed to adjust to the needs of a larger workforce

Pros

For an entry-level or introductory role in an office environment, it’s a good place to start, and the people are friendly as well. The job can be stressful at times, but it’s not especially difficult. Depending on the team you join, the training provided is generally sufficient and supportive. Flexible working is available, although how easily it’s granted can vary between teams.

Cons

The company appears to lack clear direction on where it wants to go, or at the very least seems uncertain about how to implement changes to optimise its workflow effectively. This can be very frustrating as an employee. Duties, managers, and even seating locations within the building can change frequently, making it difficult for those seeking stability. There also seems to be an element of micromanagement, though this varies by team. Some teams are managed very closely — even down to seating plans — while others are much more relaxed and easy-going.
