Pros

The pay is good and you really have to do something really back to get fired

Cons

I have so many things to say about this company… I have worked here for 8 years and have been disappointed most of the time. I dont want this to come off as disgruntle because I am still employed here as of today so take this as a warning and my honest true about the culture at this company. I have worked at three different locations and it is all the same at each site. It is a male driven good old boy culture… First if you are a women thinking that you will be able to make life transitions (single, marriage, have kids or getting sick) while maintaining growth in your career please think again. This is not the company for you. Managements expectations are 10-12 hours a days while staying connected with your phone afterwork hours and see your sick kid or cancer treatments as an inconvenience. I have worked with many managers over the year (6 in my time with the company as many quit due to workload) and all were over worked and didn’t really have time to develop their employees. I started at this company when it was Alcoa a year after graduating from college I was a high performer for many years working 10-12 hours days when it came to having kids and finding out I had cancer it all went down hill from that point on.. I was told by my manager at the time to come back to work as soon as I could I was made to feel like I was wrong for expanding my family. I was made to feel like my doctors appointments were and still are an inconvenience. Thank God we have rights to FML otherwise I dont know where I would be. I left my group for a job that I consider a black hole for my career but I can get home at 6 everyday to see my kids. I was boldly told by my new manager that is would be super hard in my current role to be considered a high performer.. Talk about motivation? Why would I spend time away from my family if it's not going to be recognized? If I'm going to be passed up for opportunities? When someone leaves they dont backfill their job everyone else absorbs their responsibilities without compensation… I do what is required everyday to maintain my job which totally feels like I've given up.. and I take responsibility for that.. How can you truly care about a company that has shown you that they don't care about you? Your just overhead cost to management.. I can go on for days… I will end by saying if you are woman, that significant other works as well or thinking about having a life outside of work or feel like you can’t leave your child at daycare for 12 hours a day just to get recognized for your work.. please ask as many questions as possible before taking the position to make sure that you could be successful in your role and you don't end up like me!
