Pros
I worked at Archico Design Build as a Project Engineer, and overall it was a valuable experience. Because the company operates with a relatively lean team, I had the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the project that junior staff at larger firms usually don’t get exposure to. I gained hands-on experience with submittal logs, closeout documentation, subcontractor coordination, change orders, and client communication. It was a fast-paced environment where I was able to learn how projects are actually managed and built in the field. Leadership expects professional work and accountability, which pushed me to learn quickly and develop practical construction management skills. For someone who wants real exposure to how projects are run, it can be a great learning environment.
Cons
Like many smaller construction companies, internal processes and structure are still evolving as the company continues to grow. The pace can be fast and expectations are high, which may not be the right fit for everyone.
