Pros

Always busy and challenged to do work. Good pay for the most part as well. Overtime is offered.

Cons

Hazardous job. Was told i was going to be an engineer and began as one. As time progressed, they needed people to manage the hourly workers and engineers often get placed in that role without input from the employee. Benefits are terrible now especially if you are a generally healthy employee. Don't make plans for weekends either that are concrete, you will often times get called in and forced to work obscene amounts of hours sometimes with no compensation.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you find your work challenging and it is the Company’s practice to benchmark our salaries against the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) report on an annual basis. Our employees are our number one priority, and that includes their health and safety on the job. The single most important initiative we have embarked on is our Journey to Zero, a global effort to reduce lost time injuries throughout the company. In the U.S., our LTI rate for employees and contractors was 1.33 in 2015, a 15 percent improvement over the previous year. But we know our work is not done as we continue to focus on further reducing the rate of severe injuries and fatality prevention through a number of corporate initiatives and joint programs with the United Steelworkers. ArcelorMittal USA operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which can require many employees to work in shifts or be on-call outside of normal business hours. We provide programs and tools to keep employees safe on the job and to enhance their overall health and wellness.
