Pros

As every library, great staff who want library to succeed. Branch I worked at was very autonomous, lots of leeway in how you did your job.

Cons

Management thinks this is a business - values rich "tax paying" patrons more than others and offers them better resources and programs. Little to no opportunity for advancement - especially if you are not white, and not male. HR is garbage - consistently fails to address sexual and racial harassment, has bungled diversity initiatives horrifically, and is not afraid to tell you that your complaint isn't real because it is industry standard. Pay for most staff is literally lower than every other library system in the Denver area. Upper management has often gotten raises on years when other staff do not.

Working with the public Some past branch Supervisors have been weak to toxic DEI-they talk the talk but don’t always walk the walk. Leadership is out of touch with patron facing staff
