Applied Interventions & Methodologies

Is this your company?

The families and kids are amazing, but the company culture and CEO are dreadful. - Behavioral Interventionist Applied Interventions & Methodologies Employee Review

Pros

The clients make the job worthwhile. Working with kids and families, seeing client growth, and learning about ABA strategies are definite pros. The supervisors are all supportive, knowledgeable and caring.

Cons

The emphasis is on the bottom line, not the well-being of clients. Employees are treated like they're unimportant and disposable. There are no holidays, sick days, or vacation days for BIs, even if you're full-time. The CEO doesn't seem to care about her employees or what their ideas are. A couple of years ago over 100 people left the company at the same time because they were being treated so badly. The 30 people or so left tried to be loyal, but now they are being treated badly too, so good people are leaving again. Turnover is a direct result of the CEO. Because of the huge turnover rate, the clients suffer.

There has been so many changes within the ABA community and services. I apologize for neglecting my employees while working towards adjusting to the many changes within our industry. My employees are what makes this company great! They are the ones who work and develop the close relationships with our clients and who help them make the necessary improvements to have a better quality of life. I appreciate each and every one of my employees. and have always maintained the wish to provide a supportive and collaborative place for my employees to work. Since this posting, I have made significant changes to ensure job satisfaction and support for all categories of my staff. I am and will always be open to feedback and welcome collaboration from current and former employees to continue to better job satisfaction for my employees. Thank you for your posting. Sandy Shaw, Ph.D., BCBA President/Director of AIM, Inc.

Pros

I worked with AIM years ago (before 2013 but I can't select years before then). My experience couldn't have been better. The kids and most of the parents were incredibly sweet. Both Sandy and my supervisor were wonderful mentors and helped me not only learn ABA techniques but helped me become the professional I am today. Hands down best organization I've ever worked.

Cons

At the time being an independent contractor was a bit painful during tax season but using quarterly estimates are recommended.

Pros

In the ABA field it is hard to find a full time job that will provide you with as many benefits as AIM such as paid holiday, sick leave, health insurance and pay when client cancels less than 24 hours. You won't have to miss many hours with this company as administrative staff does an excellent job of finding you work if your clients does cancel. I also found it great that you work as a team. Monthly clinical meeting allow all staff on the case a chance to review progress, talk about difficulties and bounce ideas off each other for how to improve. Supervisors encourage you to speak to them with struggles or successes. This company offers a lot of support to its staff. They also offer a lot of training to new therapists, making you feel confident when you are new to the field and finally out on your own. I would advice others to look into employment here, I know I would still be here if I had not moved out of San Diego.

Cons

Have to build up hours to full time.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. Our administrative and clinical team work hard to provide support and collaboration to our staff. Although we are not able to promise full time positions to start with most direct service staff, we do get them to their desired hours and schedule as quickly as possible. It is wonderful to receive the positive feedback! We will continue to strive towards job satisfaction and a balance between life and work. Again, thank you for the positive feedback. Warm regards, Sandy Shaw, Ph.D., BCBA, Director of AIM.
