Great potential makes it even more frustrating when it doesn't work out - ABA Trainer Applied Interventions & Methodologies Employee Review

Pros

Supervision staff is amazing and they work hard to provide excellent ABA programs and support direct service staff. Small company, which means it's easier to make positive changes and voice concerns. Director/owner does care about staff and clients.

Cons

To be fair, most ABA companies have these same issues. However, owner needs to be more honest about shortcomings and address them appropriately. *Lack of support for direct service staff *Low compensation for difficulty of job and experience needed to do job well * Focus on billable hours can overshadow clinical needs and quality of program *Director is out of touch with staff and asks others to do what she is not willing to do herself. She should lead by example and set a positive tone for the company. *Employee development is not on the radar *Not business savvy when it comes to reducing costs, investing in employees, and managing people *Does not seem innovative or looking ahead to address issue that will be coming up in the field *Poor benefits options. *Little support for CEU or supporting career advancement

I began this company with wonderful intentions of providing quality services to support the ASD population and their families as well as provide my employees with a supportive and collaborative place to work within. This has not changed. I have since been working with business consultants, business mentor groups as well as learn from other professionals. The ABA industry is changing so drastically and quickly. I am committed to continue to learn and work towards my goals for AIM by listening to feedback from current and former employees and clients. Since this posting, I have made changes towards the issues addressed in this review and I am committed to continuing to do so. Thank you for your posting. Sandy Shaw, Ph.D., BCBA President/Director of AIM, Inc.

Pros

I worked with AIM years ago (before 2013 but I can't select years before then). My experience couldn't have been better. The kids and most of the parents were incredibly sweet. Both Sandy and my supervisor were wonderful mentors and helped me not only learn ABA techniques but helped me become the professional I am today. Hands down best organization I've ever worked.

Cons

At the time being an independent contractor was a bit painful during tax season but using quarterly estimates are recommended.

Pros

The clients make the job worthwhile. Working with kids and families, seeing client growth, and learning about ABA strategies are definite pros. The supervisors are all supportive, knowledgeable and caring.

Cons

The emphasis is on the bottom line, not the well-being of clients. Employees are treated like they're unimportant and disposable. There are no holidays, sick days, or vacation days for BIs, even if you're full-time. The CEO doesn't seem to care about her employees or what their ideas are. A couple of years ago over 100 people left the company at the same time because they were being treated so badly. The 30 people or so left tried to be loyal, but now they are being treated badly too, so good people are leaving again. Turnover is a direct result of the CEO. Because of the huge turnover rate, the clients suffer.
