Pros

There really aren't many pros besides the location and the beauty of the old, restored home that the ad agency works out of. Seemingly it appears to be welcoming and a "family oriented" company but that is far from the truth. Looks are beyond deceiving. One more semi-pro, employees can stroll in anytime between 9am and almost 10am and leave promptly at 5pm and no one says a word.

Cons

Wow, Where do I start? I guess I'll start at the root of the problem, the owner, Diana LaRue. There could not be a more unprofessional, manic boss out there. She was rude to all of her employees without any given merit. Her moods dictated the vibe in the office and more often than not, her moods were terrible. Employees are shown massive amounts of favoritism and not based on performance but based on personal preference. It is by far the worst place I have ever worked. Also the pay is very low for the industry.

Pros

Appleton is a demanding, fast-paced environment that rewards people who are curious, resilient, and willing to take ownership. It’s not a place where you can coast, but that's exactly what makes the outcomes the agency delivers great. The work is challenging, expectations are high (in the sense that a lot of trust is instilled in individual contributors, a privelege to have), and the pace forces you to grow quickly. For senior talent, it’s an opportunity to operate with real responsibility, influence outcomes, and help shape both client strategy and internal direction in meaningful ways. What makes Appleton especially compelling is that this intensity isn’t reserved only for leadership. Entry-level roles are given real exposure early, and advancement is based far more on capability and effort than tenure. If you demonstrate strong comprehension of subject matter, perform well, and keep learning, there is a genuine path from the bottom to the top. The culture values diversity of thought, accountability, and momentum. It’s a place that challenges you to be better than you were yesterday, and while that can be uncomfortable at times, it’s also what fosters strong strategic and creative professionals. Appleton is a land of opportunity for people who want to build something, sharpen their skills, and be part of a team that takes its work seriously without losing sight of growth and progress.

Cons

- Large workload - Fast-paced business due to the industry, which can be different for some folks
