Coworkers keep me going. That's it. - Front Desk Receptionist Appalachian Community Services Employee Review

Pros

My coworkers are great, and I absolutely adore them. Supportive, and kind. They are what keep me going, and the sole reason I stay. You also have the freedom to dress as you like, in most cases.

Cons

Management is the worst, and largest issue. Each person in management is part of a close-knit clique. You are either in, or you are bullied, and made to feel small. You have an overwhelming sense of not being able to advocate to yourself because they are all connected, and defend each other. It is always someone else's fault, and when you make a mistake, you are humiliated in front of your peers.

Pros

At ACS you really get great experience working with clients of all ages and backgrounds. You’re able to service a community who otherwise may not be able to get mental health services. The team members are great. Management has changed around a lot in the past year and this has been a positive.

Cons

It’s very easy to get burnt out. Which is easy to do in the community mental health world. You have to learn to say no and have boundaries. Don’t take on a role unless it is something that you truly want to do- like an enhanced service. The pay structure changed within the past year some people like the change others do not care for it.
