Pros
A beautiful office is great, but it loses its significance if the environment is toxic. While some people are genuinely nice and have become my friends, others are difficult and impossible to work with.
Cons
The company culture is the worst I have ever experienced. Whatever positive things the management claims are not true. The flexible hours approach is impossible to use, as meetings are always scheduled outside of core hours. They call the structure flat, but they don't have a clue about what a flat structure is. The management lies to partners, clients, and employees about everything, including the products. Any information you get from them, you have to triple-check if it's actually true. The company structure is unclear and hierarchical; titles do not represent the actual work people do, and duties can be added anytime without reconsidering compensation, with the blame placed on the individual for not knowing in advance. Communication is very poor, lacking respect, with constant pressure and yelling, even laughter when someone makes a mistake. The entire business seems to exist solely to make the owner happy, a sentiment explicitly expressed in many meetings. Best practices and rational decision-making don't matter; what matters is making the owner happy because she is the one paying you. So, you're expected to shut up and do what you are told. The management acts as if they know everything, not valuing specialists but wanting people to blindly follow orders. Regardless of your efforts, they will find something to yell at you about.
