Pros

- It is the better side of the retail industry regarding customers and work hours - Useful training for everyday watch and jewellery knowledge - you'll remember it and carry it on through your life - Decent pay if you're just in college

Cons

I worked in both a store and in head office. Working in the store was mostly fine; had fun with the staff, had a great manager (assistant manager not so great), and enjoyed working with the customers and being a part of people's special occasions (engagements, wedding bands, etc.). The problems started when I moved to the head office. I received very little training for the new role and was expected to know the layout and stock of three of the stores, even though I'd only been in one of them. The manager of my department was rude, manipulative and not understanding at all. They thought nothing of embarrassing their staff and shouting at them with other people present. They were utterly unprofessional and not fit to be a manager. I quit because of them.

Pros

Not a whole lot to say staff discount is good. Excellent store manager.

Cons

Little to no training, terrible pay, high pressure, unrealistic targets, the company does not enforce their own policies if a customer complains to head office they will give into the customer and make store stuff look stupid, an awful a lot expected other than selling which staff are not paid enough to do. Staff are under appreciated and often don’t even receive a thank you or any knowledgement for their hard work. Christmas came and went without even a box of chocolates for the stores. If you are part time staff expect to work every weekend, late nights and every bank holiday.
