Pros

Great work-life balance. Most people get in at 9am and leave at 5pm. Rarely a late night. Workspace and office is nice. AnswersMedia has unused space they rent out, so it’s nice talking to people who work for Cossette and Bamboo.

Cons

Like most employees, we want AnswersMedia to turn things around. The company has an identity crisis that needs to be solved — are we an agency or production company? Who are our clients? The CEO doesn’t have a vision and that is at the heart of the company’s problems. The company is so desperate to bring in sales that it’s chaotic. Additional cons include paying vendors and freelancers really late, limited resources for software upgrades (AVID) and hardware upgrades (cameras), sales team can’t get a straight answer on how to sell services, sometimes not enough work to keep busy, sales and CEO doesn’t understand digital, focus is on editing (from the CEO’s heyday) rather than graphics and animation and overall the thought processes and approaches of management are old fashioned. Many people are looking for another job or have left/been laid off. Not sure I would apply here unless things quickly turn around. Also ask to be paid up front if you’re a freelancer.

Pros

Everyone is hardworking and wants to help you learn. Lots of opportunities to get experience anywhere in pre through post production, just let them know what you're interested in.

Cons

A lot of the work you do will be independent which can be great, but more often than not it's just up to you to figure out what you need to be doing.

Pros

Working at AnswersMedia was one of the most challenging events in my career. It’s also been THE most rewarding experience too. In the time I worked, I have learned and grown more than I ever thought possible. Yes it’s fast pace like any start up is, but if you are talented and motivated, you will have unlimited number of opportunities to grow, expand you knowledge and have fun doing it. For instance, I have been promoted twice in 20 months, which I don't believe would have been even possible at any other company. My managers have always been incredibly supportive of my career but also to me as a person which is very rare these days. It’s true that the company has been through many leadership changes over the years which inevitably caused employees frustration and rant. With yet another big change last fall, the company seems to be heading in the right direction with its full transparency and profit sharing model. Like I said, the possibilities are limitless. The bottom line is that it’s not the place for people who just want to skate by. This is a highly dynamic environment that is only suited for passionate people with that inner burning desire to succeed. Innovative products that this company offers would require no less.

Cons

Training and onboarding process could be a little smoother, new hires are expected to hit the ground running and supervisors don’t always have time to adequately prepare and train new employees against such a steep learning curve
