Pros

AngelHack has been one of the most challenging and rewarding professional experiences of my life. I've worked for NASA Ames, Stanford University, University of California Irvine and many other top-tier organizations and AngelHack ranks right up there with all of the above. Prior to my employment at AngelHack I was a fairly non-technical person, but after two years, and due to the mentorship I've received at AngelHack, I am very comfortable and confident communicating to a technical clientele and developer base - as a minority women I'd give AngelHack a gold star for putting more women into the Bay Area tech scene.

Cons

AngelHack is a startup environment in every sense of the word. Employees that are the happiest here are able to fail fast, learn from their mistakes and pivot easily. If you love a hierarchy then this also might not be a fit - each individual is seen as an integral part of the whole and bears the responsibility as such.

Pros

Meet amazing people, work for multiple campaigns, good for those who thrive on diversity, spark passion in others, feel a global sense of unity, learn about amazing cultures and witness emerging ecosystems face to face, you can tailor your role to your unique passions by selective partnering. Get experience relevant to almost any future role - many former employees have gone on to amazing careers and roles.

Cons

The burnout can be real, some companies have a whole team whose annual role is hosting 1-2 hackathons and extending the impact of the innovations created, even those teams feel a burnout. Running 10+ hackathons per person per year can suck your energy like nothing else. Anyone working here needs to take rejuvenation and boundaries seriously or you may end up retreating from society / becoming a monk / having a breakdown. The pay is also below market so you must be passionate about the organizational goals.
