Friendly interviews and HR staff, friendly front desk and mail room staff, a few helpful assistants, a few paralegals who knew what they were doing, a select few associates that were helpful when I had questions.
Cons
Almost everyone I asked questions of "did not know." I'm not sure if they were trained to say "I don't know" to just about every question I asked, or if they just couldn't care less. It seemed that support staff were not motivated at all to be helpful or "go the extra mile," which reflects on management and senior partners quite poorly. Not sure if the support staff had any _real_ management or supervision. Unfortunately, lawyers are not managers. They have no HR training. And even less interpersonal skills. The partner and senior associate I worked with most were a nightmare to work for. They contradicted themselves repeatedly, saying one thing in writing, and then reneging in meetings. Was it "hazing"? Or just incompetence/lack of care and concern? I'll never know. I would send emails including information, and their replies were often "where is the information [that I just sent]?" Just about every day I wanted to email back, "Did you even _read_ my email?" Just poor, poor people skills, complete lack of management ability, and no room for questions, dialogue, discussion, or learning. For a highly intelligent person, it was nearly impossible to work with such little information or answers to my questions. This firm might work best for attorneys who don't need or want to understand what they are doing and just blindly "do what they're told" - i.e. not fertile soil to develop one's intellect, knowledge, or cognitive function.
