Pros

The NY office is in a pretty accessible location (midtown between Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center). There is a fridge full of bottled water all the time, which is a nice perk. But pretty much the only perk.

Cons

This is the type of firm that markets itself as different from other accounting firms. But really it isn't. Don't believe what they might try to sell you in a job post or interview. This is also the type of firm that fires a hard-working pregnant woman or doesn't hire a qualified intern for a full-time position because of a rumor that he/she didn't wash their hands in the bathroom. And those are just examples. There is no work/life balance. Turnover is high. No one takes the time or effort to teach or train. But upper management expects you to know everything and reprimands you if you don't. As a manager, if you do take the time to unofficially train the staff, you also get in trouble for it because you're spending too much time. Office politics, nepotism and rumors run rampant. Partners generally don't care about their staff, colleagues or even their clients. They only care about themselves. Overall, it was an unhealthy work environment and several current employees agree.

Pros

I spent under 4 years at the firm as a intern to senior associate. It was an amazing experience but I attribute my experience to having an extroverted personality which most people do NOT have going into public accounting. My team in particular was filled with amazing people that invested in you personally and professionally IF you worked hard to cultivate the relationships and grow your professional skillset. I was able to create meaningful relationships outside of the office and have fun at the firm.

Cons

I also attribute my positive experience to having great staff around me. That being said, the people you work with can really make or break you at the firm. There are some people that will demand absolute excellence and you will never be able to satisfy them because there will also be the next busy season filled with the same mannerisms and management styles. I also was not happy with the compensation especially when compared to similar roles at other accounting and tax firms.
