Pros

There is a need for the service Amount provides, especially in the era of COVID when more people are digitally banking.

Cons

Leadership is a boys club. They are 99% the same 'leaders' from Avant, and they are all buddies of the founder, Al Goldstein, and not in their roles because they are qualified, experienced executives. There are constant reorganizations that do not make any sense. Pay is low for most, and was cut due to Covid, but leadership will not commit to a plan to raise salaries even though some teams, such as business development, are receiving promotions and raises. There is one woman in a leadership position. ONE. They want to grow rapidly, similar to Avant, so they are continuously hiring with little to no thought on how to structure and organize internal teams. On any given day there may be 10-15 interviews taking place. Amount is a hiring machine with no plan for a good employee experience after coming onboard. Leadership has stated that they do not care about the employee experience, and only the employee work output via emails (CTO to all staff email from February, 2020 email) and follow-up town halls. Lack of diversity. Employees have reported racial bias by both leadership and colleagues.

Pros

I’ve been with the company since (before) its inception and it’s been an great ride! Over the years, I’ve been promoted three times, which speaks to the opportunities for growth and development here. Amount is a company that encourages innovation, and I’ve had the freedom to pitch new ideas and take them from concept to execution. If you identify a need or opportunity and raise your hand, you're often given the green light to run with it, which is an exciting and empowering aspect of the job--it's one of the reasons I stay! The other (main) reason is the people. I truly enjoy working with my brilliant teammates. I've learned, and continue to learn, so much from them.

Cons

Like most younger companies, we've had some growing pains such as reorganizations and changes in direction. While these can be challenging, they’re also an expected part of being in a dynamic environment. (And I actually find them invigorating.)
