Pros

Great environment and great people!

Cons

A significant amount of travel, but if you’re like me and enjoy it, it’s not a con!

Pros

Working with breeders and members who are passionate about the same thing you are really is nice. You get to know some of the people that call in and it's nice knowing that you really do help them out and make their jobs easier. Benefit package was good. You know what you will be doing every day, can be both good and bad. In addition to being a CSR, you will also have a "specialty". That could be a specific Angus-offered program, ultrasound, spreadsheets, etc. that you will be trained on. There was quite a bit of restructuring shortly after I left, so this could have changed.

Cons

Very political. In a, "it's who ya know" world, this is evident in the association as well. Family members of some higher-ups received recognition within association activities and I can also recall a time that one was even given a job with the association...a position that didn't even exist prior to the hiring of the family member. A lot of the CSRs are older ladies. This is not an issue until they accuse you of you not knowing what you are talking about, when in fact, they are wrong. These older ladies may not have any real-world ag/cattle experience and everything they know, they learned in the office. Only problematic part of the time. CSRs boss can sometimes be hard to work with. If the boss is having a rough day, it will be a rough day for CSRs. Sometimes it's like walking on eggshells with her. Last downfall is the cubicle....it can wear on a person.
