Pros
People are nice (except the big boss, who is competent & ambitious yet demanding) Lots to learn (if you have unlimited time & real passion for everything you were asked to do, while their learnings are more about learning about other thoughts & self-learning after work to meet the work requirement, but not mastering a skill or getting great feedback from those who are more experienced) Used to have language class subsidies on the platform (No longer for now)
Cons
Company policies keep changing, prepare to do different things every week with little or no instructions Management claims that they have a great mission and bear CSR, while I can only see their never-satisfying ambitions of making more $$ and expanding to more countries as their achievements No clear career path, and your role will be shifted based on their business needs (which can happen every week during goal-setting). They said that they like to hire generalists instead of specialists, as they expect people to work well in every area as a specialist lots of crazy ideas from the CEO that sounds good but does not work. Your work will be experimenting whether the ideas work or not Easy to burn out, suffering from an unreasonably high workload & stress from the big boss, threats, & real actions of firing employees if they think that your work is not up to (their high) standard. Layoffs happen almost every month for this startup company. Bad business model. I personally don't like this commission-based business that exploits the hard work teachers did (so most of them suffer from low wages) while their revenue-cost ratio is not that high. Not to mention there are many similar online tutoring platforms, definitely not providing unique market value to users (It may be for the greater China users) There is certainly more to complain about as a teacher working there (refer to other comments)
