Pros

Great place to build skills in a mature Fortune 500 environment. Strong commitment to culture across the organization. Leadership is supportive of professional development and most team members had good visibility with executives. Worked on interesting projects throughout my time there. Good benefits and reasonable work-life balance most of the time. This is dependent on your team and manager though. Richmond, VA headquarters but remote flexibility available for some roles.

Cons

Like many large companies, can be slow to make decisions due to bureaucracy. Multiple layers of management often meant that people who know and understand the problems and constraints don't have authority to make necessary changes and people with the authority don't know or understand the work well enough to make meaningful changes. Work life balance is heavily dependent on your manager. Some will ensure that people are not overworked while others will take it as a point of pride that they put in an extra 15-25 hours a week and can't understand why others can't do the same. Being in the tobacco industry isn't for everyone, though the company takes its mission seriously.

Pros

Salary is very generous for it to be a “sales” position. You get a company car that you can use any time for any purpose. Completely eliminates the need for a personal car payment. You’re left alone to do your job as long as you’re doing your job correctly. Support and recognition from leadership has been top of the line. This isn’t your typical sales position where you must meet objectives or else you’re ran out of the company. The brand sells itself and if you can’t sell the product Altria carries, this probably isn’t the job for you anyway.

Cons

The only con so to speak would be the workload that we have but if you’ve ever worked for a large corporation, you know objectives change almost daily. Yes, it can feel overwhelming at times but coming from a cut throat sales environment, I’ll take this “pressure” all day every day.

Pros

Good pay and great beenfits.

Cons

No time off even if it’s not paid. Work 60 hours a week on average not counting when they add in weekends. No work/life balance.
