Pros

Some of the front line workers are still passionate about their jobs. Some of the former leadership was great... They left a long time ago.

Cons

This place is a revolving door, very few staff stay past 6 months. 90% of my coworkers have been here less than a year and majority of the staff that started at the same time as me, or before me, have already quit or gotten fired. Leadership is unorganized, unprofessional and hostile to front line workers. They claim to do Restorative Justice work because it allows the organization to qualify for more grants and CPS money, however the entire leadership team is either unclear of or completely opposed to restorative justice practices. Leadership frequently advices front line workers not to go to HR if they experience harassment or hostility in the workspace and the leadership team will retaliate against anyone who complains about the way they are treated. After looking for other jobs in this field, some of my coworkers and I quickly realized we are underpaid and underappreciated. Which explains why they can't seem to keep people from leaving the organization. This is a decent place to land for a few weeks, while you look for another job, as they are desperate for Frontline workers and so unorganized they won't pay much attention to you at first. Not a place for long term employment. I'll likely be working at a much better place, and out of this clown hell, by the time this review gets approved by Glassdoor.

Pros

It was a great learning experience, and my mentor was very supportive. I had other students from my class, which made the experience smooth. I learned to use software that I had never been exposed to as a student and gained the opportunity to apply the skills I was learning in university.

Cons

I don't have any cons to mention at the moment.

Pros

HR staff is very friendly.

Cons

There is an active culture of toxicity, disrespect, neglect, and racial harassment. The organization is extremely disorganized and actively contradicts best practices in the industry. The organization had zero interest in professional development. It seems to be held together by scotch tape. "We can't retain staff" was a common refrain; it's no wonder why. Despite the admirable mission, avoid this organization at all costs.
