Pros

It's a temporary agency that hires for Altegra Health for 2 seasons in the health industry for collecting charts: Risk & HEDIS. Usually when the season is over your job is over. Some may be able to stay longer, but Altegra Health won't necessarily hire you permanently. You can work a year or more strictly under the agency. They offer overtime to catch up on the work missed if the system runs slow. Marta is trying to help workers get to Alter Health.

Cons

You must meet their quantity in metrics. You are well taught that quality matters. However quantity is the bottom line and you are let go when that standard is not met. The system moves slow. There can be times you are sent home and you don't get paid though it's not your fault. They can be selective on who will be able to do overtime. Altegra Health s planning to move I hope both methods of transportation is highly regarded.

Pros

When the work is there is a good place to get your feet wet as a coder. The salary is low while you are slow but once you get your speed up it is ok.

Cons

Pay is extremely low unless you are very fast and if you are fast enough to make good pay you won't make your 95% accuracy. The worst thing is you will be working your tail off and then suddenly there will be no work. I am a current remote coder, at least as far as being able to log on to the systems, but I haven't worked in over 2 months with no explanation from management and no communication about expected work in the future. In fact the so-called advocate I was assigned won't even respond to me. It is not fair that you are laid off and they don't even tell you. They just don't give you any work. A few of the coders with the highest QA scores are getting a little bit of work but most of us get none. Very poor communication and very poor consistency. They won't even tell you if you need to look for another job. Poor ongoing training.
