Pros

I enjoyed the pay a lot. Flexible schedule (NOT on weekends) with a college schedule. Super cool coworkers. Good-ish discount. Very customer centered job. Paid volunteering!

Cons

Where do I even start? 1. So many expectations. The secret shopper concept is so annoying as it makes me feel like a robot. I witnessed a new employee make us fail a secret shop and get reamed for it and either quit or got fired for it. Additionally, closes used to be an hour tops and now it has become 3 hours. And there are SO many more expectations at close. I don’t feel safe leaving my store so late at night. I never had guest lead experience but many of my guest leads have so much pressure on their backs to not get fired due to the continuously rising expectations. 2. Dress code. This one infuriates me. I started at the time where there were major changes to the dress code. I was 100% down with the white top and jeans as it looks clean and professional but it HEAVILY lacks personality. Then the company began to HEAVILY crack down on what was deemed ok or not ok. All shoes turned into no running shoes, turned into no canvas shows, turned into just leather or suede, turned into no white shoes, turned into no black shoes, turned into no boots. And guess what? ZERO compensation. I, as a college student, cannot afford to go out and buy all new shoes just for a job with a dress code policy that doesn’t know what they want. Also, the issues with jewelry. I understand it is a Christian organization but it comes to a point. We were told no more than two ear piercings and only one nose stud. Many of my coworkers had stacks on their ears and were told they had to take them all out if they wanted to continue working here. Many of those piercings took forever to heal and will close up. Also the fact I witnessed my coworkers being told to buy all new jewelry for their nose piercing if they wanted to continue working as well. 3. Required to work on the weekends? I am a college student with a full caseload with lots of extracurriculars and I have to FIGHT with management to get my Sundays off. Many of my coworkers have had this problem as well. I have many more things, but they are repeated on this board as well.

Pros

Everyone that isn’t a leader is nice in my opinion

Cons

They wanted us to be more peppy and cheerful, but when I did it the manager would ask me why am I being loud. But when I was quiet they would assume something is wrong with me and talk behind my back about how they think I don’t want to be there. I just have to ask why is it considered loud when I follow the standards.. these were managers talking about this (store manager & district manager). You would think if there was an actual issue with my customer service performance a customer would complain about me or the manager would politely ask me if I’m doing okay instead of talking behind my back and making assumptions. It makes me wonder why was I singled out amongst the entire team? It came off as micro aggressive and offensive as a poc.
