Pros

Management is very open to new ideas and strategies. The ideas and vision for the company continue to evolve and crystalize. The three year (plus) plan for the company is exciting and has the potential to bring massive growth. This is a great place to get startup experience with a little bit less risk. Aloompa has years of solid business under it's belt, but continues to be push for the next great innovation and is flexible to change when good ideas come down the line. The co-workers are good, friendly people and, for the most part, hard workers.

Cons

Occasionally, the openness to new ideas stymies progress in other areas. Sometimes problems are dealt with more reactively than proactively.

Thank you for your comments. They are greatly appreciated! Hopefully you'll find our new KPI progress reports to be a great way to keep track of our key objectives for the year. Most departments will be implementing new team meeting structures and agendas to make better use of time, and to be helpful in prioritizing resources and providing faster, more collaborative feedback. Please continue to be proactive in voicing your ideas during All Hands meetings, departmental meetings, or directly to your supervisor. Many of the best ideas in our 2018 operational plan came out of those types of suggestions from your colleagues.

Pros

The guys are cool. Music playing all day. Free soda and coffee. Open-office, but not a lot of pressure. It's a job. If you just need a job - it's fine to go there. If you want a career - avoid it. It's a dead-end job, basically. If you have a family, and are ok being paid 10-30% less than other company would pay, but having to only work 40h / week, it will fit you.

Cons

Some of the stakeholders / founders (not sure which one of them should be blamed) do not keep their promises (that directly affects you, such as salary, benefits). In fact, other than salary, there are no real benefits (maybe soda / coffee / cookies / snacks as they say and all employees act as they would agree :D ). You can use their insurance plan, and maybe they'll pay, say 50$ and you'll pay 50$, but that's like pennies... They introduces 401k plans, but there is no Employer matching (probably better to keep your money to yourself, invest them in something). Everyone says the new office is so cool, but for me it was a huge downgrade from what I had at my previous company. No clear career path for anyone, mainly because most teams do not have a team leader. There is also a lot of technical debt.

Thanks for your feedback. We don't have any current contractors who work here at this time, so its hard to take the rest of your review seriously. That being said, we agree with you - we have a great group of coworkers here at Aloompa! People are the most valuable resource a company has, and our team is committed to building a collaborative and productive environment for all our employees. We want all of our team members to feel like they are getting the resources and support they need to be successful, and have been working in ways that will provide each of our team members a clear plan for professional growth. We promote from within, accelerate pay increases whenever possible, and are asking our employees about the additional benefits that would provide the most value to them. Our employees built our operational plan, and are in charge of determining how to they want to spend their time in order to innovate and scale. And, most importantly, our employees are shaping the future and are empowered to be successful. The outdated ‘cons’ and 'advice to management' lists have already been addressed. We’re focused on the future - I’m sorry you aren’t here now to see what we’re up to!
