Pros

Generally innovative and a good startup with great longevity and experience. The company has been tested through a long period of time and has succeeded. When I worked there they were one of the more cutting edge facilities, and the employees, especially some of the interns, were quite talented, coming primarily from the KU EECS department.

Cons

I was able to learn a lot but the pay was right about minimum wage for a lot of the interns and the full time employees weren't much better. We moved on, and with a great deal of experience, but I always have a distasteful feeling about this place. After visiting years later, the general morale among full time employees wasn't much better. I understand it is hard to cut it as a small company but sometimes perhaps it is better to have fewer employees and treat them better, especially interns, because they should become potential employees. They typically milked interns for the core of their solutions, and while granting them very good experience, it certainly wouldn't make you want to stick around. I am not surprised to see them still struggling to take off with this attitude, but I'm also not surprised to see them continue to exist, even through a recession, because they have talent.

Pros

AllofE offers so many wonderful benefits including access to in-house gym, free snacks, great health, dental, and eye insurance, 401k contributions, frequent lunches, group activities, and the list goes on. The projects are meaningful and your work gets into production and used by clients in a short amount of time so you can see the impact you have. You are not relegated to only doing one type of work. Employees are encouraged to present new ideas and technologies with an emphasis on realizing those ideas (not just on paper). One of the best parts is the fellow employees. Everyone is very helpful and encourages others to learn and grow. Projects are done is small teams and broken up into small phases so results can be made quickly.

Cons

Projects can be challenging at times with short timelines to get things completed, but there is always support from others to help get things accomplished. This can push you to learn new things in a short period of time. The workdays don't leave a lot of time for socializing as everyone is focused on their work. The dynamic work environment is best for people that can switch gears quickly and are not stuck on only one way of doing things. There is a learning curve for new hires as there is a lot of infrastructure to learn. Documentation is minimal because existing developers work closely together to communicate ideas and are able to quickly delve into code to figure things out. Employees should be open to receiving constructive feedback, not just about work, but things that apply to overall development.

Pros

Almost none. It’s your basic work place with minimum wage.

Cons

I recently had the experience of working here and unfortunately, it was not a positive one. While I initially had high hopes for my time there, the reality quickly set in. The environment was heavily influenced by a CEO whose narcissistic tendencies created a culture where employees often felt undervalued and taken advantage of. One of the most frustrating aspects of working here was the constant micromanagement. It felt like there was no room for autonomy or trust; every move was scrutinized, making it difficult to feel empowered in my role. Upper management and HR seemed to operate as a small, centralized group whose primary focus was to monitor employees rather than support them. This only added to the stifling atmosphere and contributed to a sense of unease among the staff. What should have been a fulfilling role felt like a never-ending struggle, where even a minute less than an 8-hour workday resulted in deductions from PTO. This relentless focus on time tracking eroded any semblance of work-life balance, making it nearly impossible to feel at ease or enjoy time outside of work. Despite the frustrations, I did manage to forge some wonderful friendships with my colleagues, who were equally disheartened by the overall atmosphere. We often leaned on each other for support, which was a silver lining in an otherwise challenging experience. In summary, I cannot recommend this company to anyone seeking a healthy work environment. The toxic culture, constant micromanagement, and lack of respect for employees’ time and well-being overshadow any potential positives. If you value your work-life balance and mental health, I suggest looking elsewhere.
