Pros
Allianz is a large company and I had the opportunity to try two secondments whilst there. My job was satisfying at times and I was glad of the stability - offering the same in return, to the company, with my punctuality and attendance record. With the PIP, I got on reasonably well with my supervisor and she and the HR rep provided me with a paid package with a resume review and employment advice company, prior to terminating me, to soften the blow. Both my supervisor and I worked closely together to try and remedy the few issues with my performance.
Cons
As I believe would be typical for larger companies/organisations, AP adopts a somewhat obtuse and superficial approach to communications - whether personal or corporate - and the reality behind the facade of corporate boilerplate is not always a match. The default fallback position does seem to be one of favouring "yes-people"/"yes-men", whilst advising that exactly the opposite to be the case: wanting to improve the company and welcoming employee advice. There was also a disconnect between information on applications and websites which was supposed to be updated but, hadn't been. The area of the business which I worked in had a high rate of turnover with staff and burnout. The corporate footrprint in the market we were dealing with simply wasn't big enough and the company did not have sufficient outside staff contracted, to deal with the work. People were forever having to apologise to clients and chasing resources which, too often, were not there or were scarce. The attitude of the higher-ups could be Procrustean and glib and superficial in that regard.
