Pros

-During the pandemic, AB worked to keep us all healthy and cared for our mental well being -Summer wellness days, which added 3 extra PTO days -Ability to work closely with key decision makers in the investment process

Cons

-Pay is low in comparison to other large investment institutions -With the move to Nashville, there was a limited talent pool for the type of experience required to work at a investment management firm, which led to disproportionate titles/salary ranges for severely under qualified employees which put burden on different locations and teams working in tandem with these new hires -Once going back into the office, AB became negligent with employee's health and mental well being. Forcing managers to report who was adhering to the hybrid work schedule and who wasn't -San Antonio office executive leadership have been there for so long that they've lost touch with what a modern workplace should look like. Employees are frequently micromanaged, expected to work long hours because there is not enough staff for the work that comes in, promotions can be heavily focused on diversity candidates (to the point where a new hire was openly pointed out as being a "diversity hire" in an all hands management meeting and the hire was applauded.) -If you do not conform to AB's way of thinking, no matter your talent and passion, you will be sidestepped and sandbagged every step of the way by management. They have a willingness to hire and promote "yes" men who do not challenge the status quo and instead conform to it. It ends up creating an abusive cycle of emotional manipulation and gaslighting all under the guise of "business needs". Promotions come to those who are undeserving and do not have the leadership experience to occupy important management roles. -San Antonio upper management is able to gatekeep information from the broader executive leadership based outside of SA. They have been spinning webs of lies for years and have been able to keep the stench of poor management and leadership away from the executive leadership team. -AB is hemorrhaging from bad business decisions they have made. Instead of hiring at a domestic level, their strategy is to now hire top positions in India to save money so their decision don't affect their bottom line. A new, active strategy for AB is to re-evaluate positions lost to see if they're a better (read cheaper) fit to be moved to India. -AB San Antonio is a toxic work environment that has inflicted trauma on many employees who have left after years of service. We were overworked, underpaid, ridiculed for asking questions, and always the first to be blamed for failing of leadership to keep consistency across business units.
