Pros

Pay - Very competitive pay depending on the department. If the pay was not competitive the turn over would likely be astronomical. Learning - Depending on the department and your supervisor, you might have great amount of autonomy in getting things done. However this also means lot of people are working on silos and can't see the complete picture.

Cons

There is a lot. Work / Life balance: There is none. Next subject. Silos: Everyone kind of works in their own silo, hence people might be working on same type of project on different teams doubling the effort. Even when recognized, the Senior (I mean VP and above) management have their own unrealistic numbers to hit hence will not budge or slow down to get a complete understanding. HR: Folks HR in this company is a complete mess. Their main job is to replace the high turn overs that occur but that is pretty much it. Culture: I hear NC office is bit better but otherwise this place makes The Matrix office scenes look like Cochella. There are a lot more cons, way more. I seen people leave within 3 months here where their work history shows that they never left a company for shorter duration than 3-5 years. I seen people just leave. Like not give a notice but straight up just leave. And these are middle to upper management people. For anyone who gets a job offer from here and are considering it, I would advise them to do some research in Linkedin and see if there are current employees they can talk to in a very confidential manner. I would guarantee you that if they feel safe enough they will tell you that unless you need to repay the mob within a month, probably better to just keep on looking rather than take the gig at Align.

Pros

It used to be a good company who made a premium product, with smart coworkers, interesting tasks that involved a lot of math problems, with detailed code reviews. It still has generous PTO, sick days and a discounted lunch (in Raleigh office).

Cons

Management changed and there is an ongoing optimisation with hidden layoffs / force quits with no severance. Biased performance reviews with high expectations. Frequent goal changes and useless projects that will eventually be terminated and the whole team will be shuffled or dismissed. Complete delivery mess. Left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Knowledge transfer sucks. The only way to understand the feature is to dig into the code (bad for newbies). New unqualified and arrogant low-level managers and team-leads, hide their uselessness on endless meetings, blah-blah-blahing with no real impact just to add visibility. A lot of stress, 5 days from office in an open space with no remote option even for new parents. The base is low with no stocks. Pro-Russian company, previously based in Moscow, relocated the whole office to the US and Europe due to sanctions during Russian-Ukrainian war (they recently laid-off a few Ukrainian guys).
