Pros
Nice benefits. Decent health insurance -Blue cross and blue shield. Paid biweekly. Paid Holidays. Rewarding to help and give back to the community and help families in need. Very relaxed dress code.
Cons
It's all about who you know, who your parents are, what church you go to, and how much butt you can kiss. You will not get anywhere unless you have these qualifications. If you ever challenge management be prepared for retaliation. No new ideas... ever. Also be prepared to work for free....Yes - free. The work load is overwhelming and most employees work more than 40 hours a week and do not put it on their time sheet. You must keep your work current and up to date but no overtime and limited comp time. It is impossible to do this job in a 40 hour week. Management sees employees working over and turn the other cheek. Most counties pay overtime but Alexander does not. Sometimes comptime is allowed but you will never be able to take it.They also do not give raises. It is normal to see coworkers break down and cry. The turn over is ridiculous. They are just desperate for warm bodies to answer the phone at this point. Nobody is happy. I think over half the staff has left since the new director in 2008. Some of the old timers stay because they know they can retire soon and the others that could retire retired.
