Pros
The coworkers that I have are all pretty fantastic. I don't have to punch a clock and I have flexibility to work from home when I need to. Great commute and excellent bonuses. You can easily negotiate an additional week of vacation when you are offered a role here. Health insurance is through United Healthcare.
Cons
Generally, unless you are a higher level executive, AkzoNobel does not pay competitively. Generally salaries are probably 10-15k/yr less than other coatings companies, so folks really have to depend on making a yearly bonus and hope that the company did well to do payouts. It is discouraged for managers to give out "exceeds expectations" on reviews, so most employees get "meets requirements" and are given a 1.5 to 2% max increase per year. There is no training or onboarding for most new office employees. The company runs so lean that there are no backup people for when you have to take a day off so often I am taking my laptop on vacations with me and I have to use it. The company has the appearance of caring about diversity and inclusion, but there is no employee advocacy onsite to ensure that employees are taken care of. Employee development is also extremely rare to nonexistent and when roles become available, they have been vetted and there is already a candidate selected.
