Pros

A bunch of wonderful people to share your pain with (really, wonderful people and wonderful professionals), wellbeing platform (you’re surely going to need it), private health insurance, used to allow some degree of flexibility, travel allowance

Cons

Working at this company is first and foremost an extremely stressful experience that at the end makes you doubt your competences. Lack of processes, authoritarian management which consists of more people than the team doing actual work, you can talk as much as you like about certain changes that you would like to make or about the need for a new hire, if it’s not another ai automation nobody is going to listen anyway. Everyone is scared of the ceo to the point that whatever is suggested by him is implemented straight away. Your opinion as a professional? Thank you, but not this time. Absence of structure, no planning, no information makes you stressed all the time because however organised you are, here you can’t be, with the way they plan projects and inform of changes. Even if your closest manager wants to be a good supporting manager, their wings are cut down by those above them. About the opportunities here: as a hard working, ambitious professional, you will surely receive another portion of responsibilities, topped by the need to do the work of three people (there’s no budget), navigating through a never-ending list of high priority tasks and last minute urgent changes made by one of the managers. Learning opportunities! And yes, you’re going to be blamed for the chaos or delays, happens. But someone will eventually notice the hard work you’re putting to actually make things work, right? Yes, this is the part when I can assure you that the company will reward your persistence… most probably by giving you a promotion without adequate raise. But hey, you can always negotiate later right? (oh, you don’t, there’s no budget) And somewhere on the way you start doubting yourself. But the workload keeps growing and you still deliver, until your hunt for a new job ends with a success. The change of c levels only made everything worse. Wellbeing doesn’t matter, adequate pay doesn’t matter, opinions don’t matter. But yes, you need to come to the office more often, we’re doing it for the culture. Avoid at all cost.

Pros

As a freelancer I choose the hours in which I work, which is very convinient. I only have to worry about delivering certain tasks on time. I was also able to negotiate an hourly rate I'm happy with.

Cons

Don't have much to say, because I'm not much involved with what's going on inside the company.

Pros

AirHelp was flexible in some ways and offered a reasonable work/life balance for most of its employees. The office was gorgeous and my co-workers were really wonderful people and very talented.

Cons

Because AirHelp is so chaotic and it is struggling to get off the ground (per se), I don't see the company succeeding in the long run. It was not clear exactly what my position was, which was another side effect of a start-up culture. This confusion was clear throughout the entire company--someone would be hired, quickly promoted, and then immediately fired because management was not sure about they wanted.
