Pros
Worked with a great group of people that made coming to work very enjoyable. Work/life balance is great. I found the salary to be competitive considering this is a government job and salaries are always under public scrutiny. Benefits and pension are very good. I also found cross-functional teams worked very well together.
Cons
The manager of the Development Services Group was a micro-manager making innovation and creativity difficult. He will tell his superiors that a project is on schedule or complete even if it isn't so and makes his reports lie to cover the truth so as to not tarnish his image. Despite having hard working capable employees there is no effort to train them to fill needs withing the department. You end up doing the same job forever with no chance to improve your skills. Asking for a promotion results in being told "it will take a year before we can review your request" Manager likes to hire his friends.
