Pros

The people are great, very bright and dedicated. People care about our customer partners. The new CEO is an excellent leader - someone you want to work for.

Cons

The benefits, especially the 401k is terrible. Some of the sr technology leaders allow their egos to get in the way of working well with others. In 5+ years I have had one formal review....

Thank you for the compliment and I genuinely appreciate the feedback on where we can improve. I will make the 401(k) match (I assume that's the terrible part) a priority. Hopefully you're seeing an improvement on the ego front on the tech side over the last few months, but if not, please talk to Katelyn (HR Manager) with specifics. She and I spend a lot of time trying to eliminate that challenge - and we believe it has improved - but we could be wrong. I am very sorry to hear you have only had one formal review in 5 years. Something is wrong. As you know, our philosophy is that each person gets a formal review annually, but should be getting real-time, 360 degree feedback on an ongoing basis. I would like to make sure we work this out. I'm not asking you to compromise your anonymity, but I encourage you to discuss this with your manager, with HR, or if you'd like, please feel free to talk to me about this. Thank you again for your feedback, Curt

Pros

Agencyport's best asset are its employees. Everyone on the team is friendly, and the culture is casual and fun. Plenty of opporunities for after-work activities, including softball, kickball, and paintball. There's opportunity to learn with regular "lunch & learn" sessions as well as senior employees always willing to lend a hand.

Cons

If you're a developer on the Services team, the work can get old after a while. There's plenty in the SDK to learn, but you'll be implementing similar projects over and over, and Agencyport SDK knowledge isn't exactly transferable to other companies. The newest (at the time of writing) version of the SDK uses things like AngularJS and Bootstrap (which are transferable to other web companies), but there's no guarantee that you'll be working on a project using the latest version of the SDK. If you end up supporting a client who uses an older version of the SDK, you'll be working with older software, as the insurance industry isn't very quick to adopt the latest technology updates.
